Inspired by Greek mythology Centaurs are creatures from Greek mythology. Part human and part horse, Centaurs represent the struggle between good and evil, moderation and excess, passion and propriety, forgiveness and revenge, god and beast. Our inspiration for Centaur Trust comes from Chiron, the wisest of all Centaurs. Chiron was unlike any of the other Centaurs. Born of Cronus the Titan and Philyra, an ocean nymph, Chiron fathered a different race of Centaurs who were sober, learned and studious. He was a father figure or mentor to many of the gods’ children, passing on to them his great knowledge of the world. Some of the most distinguished heroes of Greek mythology were amongst his pupils, such as Hercules, Jason and Achilles. In fact, according to mythology, during a battle between Hercules and a group of Centaurs, Hercules accidentally shot Chiron, who was nearby observing the battle, with a poisoned arrow. Although Hercules was a great friend of Chiron, he did not recognise him due to the great distance. Seeing his son’s great sadness at the accident, Zeus gave the good Centaur a resting place among the stars. We now know this as Sagittarius, the archer. Like Chiron, our source of inspiration, we have tried to differentiate Centaur Trust from all others involved in our industry.
